People are so unique. That became very obvious to me this week as school started back up. I often notice how differently my children learn when we jump back into our studies. Teaching and working with different learning styles in a homeschool is no less challenging than in a public school.
What we have learned in 3 years about how to grow raspberries
Garden11 CommentsI've always wanted a berry patch. Strawberries aren't too bad to purchase but others can cost an arm and a leg! We've had vegetables gardens and flower gardens but never a berry patch. In our current home we've had the fun adventure of creating a patch that has given us good return! Not quite where we don't need to buy any berries but that is my ultimate goal! We are 3 years in to this adventures and I want to share our tips for growing raspberries learned from our good and bad experiences.
Sugar free kid-approved Spice Muffin recipe
THM RecipesCommentAs the weather cools, I finally feel like baking again!! For years we have made large batches of muffins for the freezer because I don't fix breakfast anymore. My garden was a failure this year
Garden2 CommentsThis year I had major physical challenges and planning problems to overcome and looking back I can see several reasons why my garden was a failure this year.
I think it is super important to evaluate what went right and what didn’t work each year. I want to record the problems and what I will do differently in the future.
How to make a bullet journal ribbon loop
CommentToday I want to share a quick little ribbon loop craft to use on a bullet journal that you can do in just about 20 minutes. The hardest part for me was choosing what ribbon and button that I wanted.
Fast easy crafts—I love them!
Bullet Journals
I have realized that I need to get more organized and get back to my morning and daily schedules. I used to have them written down and used that system to guide my day but it has slipped this summer. So I took the plunge and jumped on the bullet journal wagon.
Never heard of bullet journals? They are simple, creative and can become an organizing system that you can tweek for your own needs. I will be sharing how this system is working for me but it’s only been 3 weeks and I’m still figuring it all out. Until then you can go check out BulletJournal.com for a detailed description!
Keeping my journal safe
I bought a basic journal from Walmart that only cost me $10. There are fancier and more costly ones out there but for now this works. The pages are thick enough that they don’t bleed through. The one thing it doesn’t have is a elastic band to keep it closed. It does have a book mark which I keep on my daily log page.
Since I’m taking the journal with me everywhere, I don’t want it to be falling open. That could mean damaged pages. So this craft is actually going to hold my journal closed. You could also use this as book mark for your journal or bible but elastic might work better than a ribbon so that it can be adjusted for different books.
I also have other journals and I plan to use this idea for them as well. I read very few “real” books any more. I debated the merits of real vs. digital books a few months ago and I’m still firmly in the digital camp.
How to make a button ribbon bookmark
1. Measure the ribbon to go around your journal. Subtract 1 inch and cut your ribbon to that length.
2. Wrap the end of the ribbon around the elastic band. Turn the end under so there is no cut edge exposed and stitch the end down. My "hem" of the ribbon was around 1/2 inch of ribbon total.
3. Hem the other end in the same way without an elastic band.
4. On the end without the elastic, sew a cute button. Wrap the ribbon around your journal and loop the elastic around the ribbon. Fast, easy, useful & finished!
Does anyone love new pencils, journals and notebooks as much as I do? These are my new tools for the school year! Love this Pentel mechanical pencil! Plus it matches the color of my Post-it notes--LOVE!
