Do you have recipes in strange places? Our bread recipe is on a sticky note that lives with our emergency phone numbers inside a cabinet. Why is it there? No one really knows. This honey wheat bread is fluffy, healthy and a crowd pleaser! Add some butter and honey and you have heaven for your senses!
One of the first things my kids learn in the kitchen is how to make bread. Everyone should know how to make bread. One of my children made the above happy loaf of bread. No one really knows who took the photo though. Hmmmm
We cheat though. My bread maker does all the work. I don’t bake it in the machine. It goes in my stoneware loaf pan & into the oven.
Confession. I LOVE fresh baked bread. As soon as it is cool enough I take it out of the pan & slice off the end.
Slather with butter & sprinkle cinnamon and sugar or Apple Butter. Ahhhh.
Now that you are drooling over my bread. Here is the recipe we’ve used for years. It came with bread machine #1 that we no longer have—It wore out.
*** Update *** I no longer use a bread maker(died again!). The Kitchen Aid Mixer with a dough hook works great!
Honey Wheat Bread
Place ingredients in the bread(or kitchen aid bowl) pan in this order.
1.5 cups HOT water
2 cups bread flour
2.5 cups whole wheat flour
1/3 cup honey
2 tsp salt
2 Tbsp Butter—cut into small pieces
2.5 tsp yeast
I make this on the dough setting and then move the dough to a stoneware loaf pan to rise and bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees. It can also be baked in the bread maker we just like the crust from the stone. This makes a 2 pound loaf.
